Ingo Andersen

INGO ANDERSEN started playing tremolo harmonicas at a very young age in his native Denmark. By age thirteen he had graduated to the more sophisticated chromatic harmonica he masters today. Ingo is a dynamic player and enjoys a wide range of music styles, especially classic ballads from the thirties to the fifties and sixties, although Ethnic and show tunes are high on his list as well. Hoagy Carmichael is his favorite composer, but Porter, Gershwin etc. are also high on his list. He recorded a CD with Ken Smith "Songs we Love", mostly ballads with a few up-tempo songs as well. Having starred at many international harmonica conventions, Ingo is known for his amazing speed playing, but his depth and emotions on slower ballads is impeccable. He also plays some guitar and some piano, but harmonica is his instrument of choice.

Having worked in high noise areas in the meat industry all his life, he suffers from 'industrial' deafness making it necessary to use two digital hearing aids which at first was a concern while playing harmonica, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise since the vibration from the harmonica reeds are so 'fine' that it enhances the 'internal' sound heard while playing.
