Ron Hefner


RON HEFNER is the house drummer at Ellington's Jazz Bar and Restaurant on Sanibel Island in Southwest Florida. He has played professionally in 40 states and Canada, and has worked with the great jazz organist Don Patterson, Grammy Award-winning multi-instrumentalist Ira Sullivan, the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, the Vaughn Monroe Orchestra, and the legendary David "Fathead" Newman. Early in his career, Ron studied jazz at the Creative Music Studio in Woodstock, New York. Aside from playing jazz, Ron is a professor of English at Florida Gulf Coast University in Ft. Myers, Florida.

Ron was diagnosed with Meniere's disease in 2004. He maintains his work schedule with prescribed medication and the John of Ohio regimen. Ron's attitude is, "No matter how much Meniere's tries to get you down, you can never give in."
